Assalamu alaikum warahmatuLlah wabarakatuHu.
I hope this meets you in good health & excellent state of eeman. May Allah ease your affairs. Aameen.
Today, I'll be sharing a short exercise from the private Ramadan Prep Challenge community which will help you with crafting your dua list.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that Allah said: "O My servants! If the first of you; if the jinn of you and the men of you were to stand on one plain, and ask Me, and I gave every single person what he wanted, then all of that would not decrease anything from My Kingdom, except like a needle (decreases the amount of water) when it is placed in the ocean (and then taken out).
Reflecting on this hadith, what can you take away? (I'd like to hear your reflections, please send an email or leave a comment)
With this hadith in mind, here's the exercise:
Imagine you're standing before Allah & He asks you to ask Him for anything you need. What would you ask?
This is a free-writing exercise. Typically you're supposed to spend 2 mins writing but if like a community member, it lasts 1hr, that's also fine.
Do not think about the HOW of what you want to ask ALLAH. Never worry about that.
Like prophet Ibrahim( alayhi salaam) in the fire, prophet Muhammad (sallAllahu alaihi wasalam) during the battle of Ahzab and Aisha (radiAllahu anha) when she was slandered, & they all uttered “Hasbuna Allahu wa ni'ma al-Wakeel”, leave the How to Allah’s infinite wisdom.
So I challenge you to turn off the “thinking & analysing” part of your brain and just write out your list of what you'll ask Allah. Those are the things you should be making dua for during the blessed month of Ramadan.
Umar ibn al-Khattab (ra) said: "I am not worried about whether my du'a will be responded to, but , but rather I am worried about whether I will be able to make du'a or not. So if I have been guided (by Allah) then (I know) that the response will come with it)
May Allah make it easy for us to ask Him.
